DIGITAL MEDIA: NEW LEARNERS OF THE 21ST CENTURY is a frontline look at an educational revolution. The documentary explores how exceptional instructors are increasingly using digital media and interactive practices to ignite their students’ curiosity and ingenuity, help them become civically engaged, allow them to collaborate with peers worldwide, and empower them to direct their own learning.
As John Seely Brown, co-chair of the Deloitte Center for the Edge, notes in the film, “Probably the most important thing for kids growing up today is the love of embracing change. In a world of rapid change, the need to memorize something is a 20th-Century skill. The need to navigate in a buzz of confusion and to figure out how to trust the information you find, if you can feel confident doing that, the world is yours.”
Documenting five success stories both inside and out of the classroom, DIGITAL MEDIA demonstrates how digital media, games, smart phones and the Internet are fundamentally transforming the way young people communicate, collaborate, participate and learn in the 21st Century.
