RICHARD GARRIOTT: MAN ON A MISSION highlights the amazing adventures of a private citizen who never gave up on his lifelong dream of space travel.

The son of a former astronaut, Richard Garriott’s desire to follow in his father’s footsteps came to an early and abrupt end. Diagnosed as nearsighted at the age of eight, his attempt to join the legendary ranks of the NASA space program was unfortunately over before it ever started.

Garriott, however, is not a man who backs down from a challenge. Amassing a fortune through the creation of a series of wildly popular computer games, he invested large portions of his wealth into the business of private space travel. And in 2008, after writing a check for $30 million dollars, Garriott secured a seat on the Russian Soyuz rocket to the International Space Station.

The film follows him through the entire unique experience: From his intensive training at Star City — Russia’s recently declassified cosmonaut training center — to his dramatic launch from a remote base in Kazakhstan and, ultimately, his ten unbelievable days aboard the Space Station.

An inspiring story of one man’s determination, RICHARD GARRIOTT: MAN ON A MISSION documents a historic first step into the future of private space travel.
