Description
FARMING THE FUTURE: FARM LIFE ON LONG ISLAND celebrates the enduring way of life, work ethic and value system of the Long Island family farmers, whose rural heritage spans more than three centuries. The program details the farmers' struggles — from weather and suburban sprawl to competition from abroad — and explores solutions for helping them remain on the land. FARMING THE FUTURE weaves interviews, historical photographs and contemporary footage into a vibrant tapestry of Long Island's farming legacy from historical, cultural and economic perspectives. The documentary is narrated by Long Island native and actor William Baldwin (Backdraft) and features an interview with Farm Aid president and music legend Willie Nelson. |
